Thanks You Andrew and Hendrick for the great review on hand planing
Andrew and Hendrik..Just starting out..if you were to purchase three planes which ones would they be? Thanks for the podcast!
Thank you for the comment and the question.
In my opinion I would say a Block plane (I prefer low angle), Jack plane (Stanley 5 or 5-1/2), and a Smoother (Stanley 3, 4, or 4-1/2). The Block plane can be used for a lot of different tasks in the shop, from adding chamfers and trimming end grain to smoothing curves. A Jack plane (with a couple of blades) can be used as a scrub, fore, or smaller jointer, to prep stock and fix twist and the like. A smoother to me, is a useful tool in any shop for cleaning up and fitting.
I will pose the same question to Hendrik when we talk next month, look for the answer he gives on the next podcast we do.
Hi Andrew..I am always looking forward to listening to Hendrik on the podcast each month. Thanks for setting this up with him and for your great site. Keep up the good work!

Hi Andrew! I have a question for You and Hendrick. I am planning on making a new table top for my dining room table. How would I plane it flat? I will be milling the boards and gluing them together. Is this technique covered on the DVD?
